Kapil Gupta, MD

Dr. Kapil Gupta is a distinguished gastroenterologist known for his dedication to providing exceptional care. Born and raised in Plantation, Florida, Dr. Gupta's early interest in medicine was nurtured through his academic pursuits, pursuing scientific research during high school. Dr. Gupta embarked on his academic journey as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education (HPME) at the University of Miami, a prestigious 7-year accelerated program that combined undergraduate and medical studies. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He continued his medical education at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, earning his Doctor of Medicine degree.

Dr. Gupta's commitment to excellence led him to complete an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Miami/JFKMC Palm Beach Regional GME Consortium. Here, he distinguished himself as a member of the GME Residency Council, advocating for his peers and contributing to institutional improvements. His pursuit of specialization began with a General Hepatology Fellowship at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he had the privilege of learning under the guidance of Dr. Vinod Rustgi, one of the most renowned and extensively published hepatologists. This fellowship provided Dr. Gupta with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in managing complex liver diseases, significantly enriching his medical expertise.

Following his hepatology fellowship, Dr. Gupta advanced his specialization through a Gastroenterology Fellowship at the same institution. During this fellowship, he received specialized training in inflammatory bowel disease, motility, advanced GI, and obesity/nutrition. His comprehensive training equipped him with the skills to offer cutting-edge care in these areas. During his tenure, he was elected Chief Fellow, reflecting his leadership skills and deep expertise in managing complex gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
